But you have more experienced than me so I trust what you said.
#Keepassxc cannot be opened because of a problem install#
I was not too keen to install an application via the PPA method because I had read it was not really safe.

It's why I had chosen AppImage to install this app which was at first not available in the repositories of 18.1, but in fact it seems that AppImage is also not a reliable way to install apps.īy the way, it's strange that Linux Mint (via repositories) is sponsoring the Flatpak method. I read lots of negative comments about Flatpak for others applications, so I am not really surprised. The problem apparently is because KeePassXC you get from Linux Mint repositories is a Flatpak version. Many people write negative reviews about KeePassXC downloaded from the Software Manager because it does not install properly. I uninstalled KeePassXC and reinstalled it and finally it seems that now everything works fine. Weird! Because in fact it was not working at all from AppImage. We recommend you use the AppImage available on our downloads page. WARNING: Your Qt version may cause KeePassXC to crash with an On-Screen Keyboard! So I followed your advice and installed KeePassXC via the PPA method.Īt first it was not working properly. I thought the problem was solved, until I realized it was just opening URL into my default browser, BUT I could not link KeePassXC to fill up username and passwords into Firefox. I've updated my system to 18.3 and found KeePassXC in Linux Mint repositories. Thank you very much for the detailed information phd21. To install this using the PPA method, open a console terminal, type in, or copy & paste, each line below one by one: Click "Select All" above command, right click the highlighted command, select Copy (or Ctrl+Insert), click in the console terminal window, and right click paste ("Shift+Insert" or "Ctrl+Shift+v"), repeat for each command. I have not tried their AppImage, so I don't know what is causing your current issues, but installing those packages may help.

I always install KeePassXC from the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)" or their PPA and it works well. If you have not installed "qt5-default" and "xcb" (xcb, libxcb1, libxcb-xkb1, libxcb-util1), then do that, logout and back in.

If you are using Linux Mint v18.1, I recommend updating to 18.3 through the Mint update manager under toolbar edit option. If you run " inxi -Fxzd" and " lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. It would help to know more about your system setup.
